Spray Tan Tips

It’s not uncommon leaving a spray tan appointment coming out bright orange - we understand you may be nervous about getting another. Here are some tips to avoid the spray tan disaster.

  • Skip deodorant before the appointment. Deodorant will interfere with the spray tans absorption.

  • The same thing goes with moisturizer - before your appointment.

  • Get your wax or shave the day before your appointment. Hair removal will also remove the tan.

  • Wear loose clothing to your appointment. That way it doesn’t stick or stain your clothing afterward.

  • Avoid showering or going into a pool at least 12 hours after your spray tan.

  • The more you moisturize after your tan - the longer it will last. You can also use tan extender lotions.

  • Spray tan does NOT contain SPH. So it’s still very important to protect your skin from the sun - using your usual sunscreens.

  • After your spray tan, pat dry with a towel instead of rubbing it on your skin. Avoid using loofahs and washcloths for the same reason.

  • Spray tans get darker after application. So if you leave feeling like it’s too light -don’t worry it won’t be for long.

  • Exfoliate before your spray tan. Get rid of all your dead skin so that your tan looks even.

  • DO NOT use scented body washes or lotions after your spray tan. Use fragrance free products.

  • Face washes containing salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide are NOT RECOMMENDED because they can eat away at your spray tan.  Your face will fade faster as you wash it more frequently. Use a gentle cleanser.

  • Wait at least one day before going in the ocean or a pool after your tan.  Chlorine may make your tan fade faster, however it is not going to remove the tan immediately.
